e-learning
Dear Loring Families,
We are committed to providing continuous, meaningful learning experiences for your student/s, even when severe weather or other unexpected circumstances prevent in-person school. This letter outlines the procedures and expectations for our E-Learning Days.
When E-Learning Days Happen
E-Learning Days will only be implemented after the third accumulated school cancellation due to weather or other emergency reasons. On the fourth and subsequent canceled days, we will transition to an E-Learning Day to continue instruction and minimize disruption to the school calendar.
Attendance, Communication, and Hours
- Communication: teachers will be available through talking points. Families should receive a letter from their teachers via text or email. You can access the app by downloading Talking Points Family Education or respond to the welcome text you received from your child's teacher. This is a free app.
- Official E-Learning Day Hours: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Teachers will be available during these hours for support.
- Attendance Requirement: Student attendance is mandatory on E-Learning Days. To be marked present, students must:
- Complete a minimum of 3 choices from their assigned grade-level choice board.
- Send the completed work to their teacher by 3:00 PM on the E-Learning Day.
- If you are unable to send the work electronically, please ensure your student turns it in to their teacher the following in-person school day so their attendance record can be accurately updated.

Accessing Assignments
- Assignments are designed to be flexible and engaging. You can find the links to the grade-level choice boards on the Loring Website. Students can access Google classroom and/or Seesaw through Clever online.
Communication Protocol
- Notification: Families will be notified that an E-Learning Day is in effect through a Robocall and potentially text/email alerts.
- Teacher Outreach: Your student's teacher will reach out to you directly via Talking Points (through Clever) to confirm the plan and answer initial questions. Please ensure your family contact information is up-to-date and/or if there is another number the teacher should use to reach students for attendance, directions and supports
- Special Education (SpEd): IEP accommodations will be provided to the maximum extent possible in the remote setting. Your student's case manager will communicate directly with you about specific activities, goals, and any necessary adjustments to their E-Learning plan.
English Learners (EL): Instruction will continue to be differentiated and scaffolded to meet your student's language needs. EL teachers will be available to connect with students for support during the E-Learning Day hours.
